        James Conner Gets Two-Year Extension

The Cardinals have agreed to a two-year, $19 million extension with RB James Conner, according to multiple reports. That will lock Conner in with the team through 2026.

        2024 Fantasy Football Impact

This came as a surprise primarily because Conner will turn 30 in May. But he has continued to look good this year, including losing none of the team's first 11 games to injury.

If he makes it healthy through the season, it would mark the first time in Conner's career that he didn't miss at least two games.

The veteran has also maintained strong workloads. His 15.1 carries per game is the third-highest rate of his career. His 2.6 receptions per game mark a boost vs. last year.

I'd bet on a bigger workload challenge from RB Trey Benson in 2025. But the new $9.5 million-per-year pact says Arizona expects Conner to continue leading the backfield the next two years.

        Other Winners & Losers

Benson's a clear loser on this deal. Conner had been set to hit free agency in March, which would have given Benson a shot to lead the 2025 backfield.

He remains a decent hold for dynasty rosters, but Benson will need help to deliver meaningful in-season value.

If you have Benson but not Conner, consider shopping the young back to the Conner manager in your league this offseason (or before this regular season ends).
